Steve Kelly

Captain Steve Kelly has recently begun a new role as Manager of Flight Deck Recruitment & Selection with Qatar Airways, based in Doha. Steve has over 21 years of experience in Aviation and is current on the Airbus A320 having flown A330 on and Boeing 737 aircraft previously. Steve has a demonstrated history of working in the Airlines/Aviation industry through the many cycles of growth and more challenging economic circumstances. Steve has been in Airline management for over 10 years and previous experience includes: Pilot Recruitment Manager, Airbus A320 Fleet Manager, Director of Cabin Services, Head of Pilot and Cabin Crew HR, inflight retail, industrial negotiations, safety management, fatigue management, manpower and rostering, strategy, leadership, communication and regulations.

Steve originally studied Mechanical Engineering and has a Master’s in Business Administration from UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School in Dublin. More recently, in addition to general Flight Operations management duties, he has been helping develop awareness of pilot wellbeing initiatives.

A volunteer Advisory Board member of the Irish Aviation Students Association since 2014 which is a non-profit entity aiming to connect aviation passionate students with the Industry. Founder of Young Horizons in 2012, a youth development charity helping to develop education and career initiatives for those young adults with less access to opportunity and advice about entering the aviation field amongst others.
